Market gaps are often opportunities disguised as a growing need for innovation.

Take the case of information systems in the Philippine retail and food sectors. For long, these industries lacked adept information systems to keep track of inventory, fast track and scale up their digitalization efforts and analyze their data to make informed business decisions. This is precisely what ANSI Information Systems, Inc. was born to change and bridge the market gap.

While supplying canned sardines to supermarkets, the President of ANSI Information Systems, Inc. witnessed it early on that supermarkets in different countries were already using the POS and scanning barcoded items. This is the very reason why he thought of establishing ANSI Information Systems, Inc. in 1987 to supply POS to the Philippine market. It was only a matter of time until he saw the advantage of barcoding that could greatly help the retailers monitor their inventory and reduce theft.

Today, ANSI operates as a stable 33 year old company which has broken out of the mold and blazed the trail with market innovations. With time, the company’s customers expanded to have numerous branches, and they needed an ERP to control purchases, monitor inventory in multiple locations, and see the true financial standing of their company and each branch. “This is the reason why we partnered with SAP and integrated our POS to SAP Business One to expand the scope of our software and yet be flexible to adapt to the current market trends and needs, such as interfacing with other food and retail delivery aggregators,” states Charlene Sun, VP of Sales, ANSI Information Systems, Inc.

The core philosophy of ANSI is to address and solve clients’ main pain points and help them enhance their growth potential. They would like to continually empower businesses with the latest tools, innovative services and modern systems to implement practical and advanced digital solutions. ANSI has been awarded for being one of the prominent SAP’s Gold Partners, Epson’s Platinum Partners, Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions and IBM’s Value Partners for several years in a row.

These various awards and accolades stand to reason that numerous renowned organizations rely on ANSI, making it an undisputable leader in the POS realm and the top of the lists of POS solution providers published by various magazines. Such recognition confirms ANSI’s uniqueness compared to others vendors in the industry. ANSI is also one of the few companies in APAC that made it to Retail CIO Outlook’s eminent list.

Compliance and Reliability at the Core

ANSI’s WinVQP POS System is an internationally certified PA-DSS secure, integrated, and complete POS system. It has inventory control, replenishment, cash office management and business analytics designed to assist the customer in their digital journey. Every feature and function of the system can be configured to support and transform every phase of operation. It is an omni-channel solution which assists the customer to get the sale from all digital channels possible. It can be used by a variety of retail outlets such as (but not limited to), supermarkets, department stores, convenience stores, drug stores (pharmacies), hardware stores and boutiques. The feature-rich system enables merchandisers to extend different promotions and discounts to customers, generates sales analysis reports and inventory reports, and comes with a comprehensive forecasting and merchandising module.

We have partnered with SAP and integrated our POS to SAP Business One to expand the scope of our software and be flexible to adapt to the current market needs. We would like to assist in the digital transformation of our customers. Some locals have a cultural bias for foreign goods. We have proven that a locally developed POS is much better in addressing the needs of the market and has also served customers abroad

The solution allows for seamless EFT-POS integration and can be fully integrated with various electronic payment systems. The BIR accredited and compliant POS system can be operated on Windows-based tablet and mobile device, securely logged in through fingerprint or biometric authentication, integrated with other sales channels, such as online stores, call centers, self-order kiosks, and more. ANSI is the pioneer in bringing innovative technologies in the country. It makes use of the latest technological trends to keep the system up and running at all times. The WinVQP POS System can run on standalone mode to continue processing each sale transaction without interruption. Offline transactions will automatically be restored when the server/network is back online.

Considering the post-COVID era where businesses are witnessing a massive economic disruption, ANSI has fared well amid these challenging times. “The retail and food business has been badly hit by the pandemic. Customers are hesitant to eat in restaurants and would prefer to order their food. This is the reason why we have quickly adapted and integrated with various delivery aggregators so that orders from them will automatically be transferred to the POS in the store,” explains Sun. This eliminates double-encoding of the order, which is time-consuming and prone to error. It also allows easy reconciliation and collection of the receivable from the food and retail delivery aggregator. For the retail sector, since customers cannot physically go to the stores, ANSI has partnered with EasyStore, an e-commerce platform, and eGHL payment gateway, so that customers shop online and wholesale customers can order from the safety of their homes.

Testament to Exemplary Capabilities

To illustrate the benefits of ANSI’s solution, Sun recalls the success story of one of their clients that was challenged with performing centralized purchasing and replenishment. By implementing ANSI’s POS and SAP Business One package, they have successfully managed to expand and open more branches not only in their province but also to Metro Manila.

In another scenario, a retailer had three different systems for POS sales, inventory, and purchasing and was manually tracking the financials. With ANSI’s integrated solution, the retailer was able to cut down on manpower for encoders (save money on manpower and overtime), trace inventory in all locations (manage overstock and understocking) and generate the financial reports in two to three days rather than three months.

For the future, ANSI will continue to lead the pack and provide trend-setting services and maintain a competitive edge in the market. It is ANSI’s innovative software that offers stability and unparalleled speed to customize and yet adapt to customers’ needs, making it stand apart from other POS providers in the market. “We actively stay tuned to the new digital technologies available and filter out those which may not yet be adaptable to our country. Our core strength is the POS, which is why we have several “flavors”—supermarket, convenience stores, dept stores, fast food, fine-dining restaurants, pharmacy, hardware, and petroleum. We will continue to provide the technological innovation and excellent service which our customers rely on.” ends Sun.
